It can be frustrating when you spend time perfectly arranging a beautiful gallery on your Delivery Pages, only to find out your client downloaded the files and they appear out of order on their computer.
When your clients download photos, the order might not match the visual sequence you arranged online. This happens because most operating systems (like Windows and Mac) automatically sort downloaded files alphabetically or numerically by default, completely ignoring the layout of the web gallery.
How to Preserve Your Photo Order
To ensure your photos stay in the exact sequence you intend when your real estate agents or builders download them, you need to rename your files sequentially before uploading them to Show&Tour.
Here is the best workflow to guarantee a perfect handoff:
Use a sequential numbering system: Add a 2 or 3-digit number suffix to your final file names.
Always use leading zeros: Name your files utilizing zeros for single and double digits, like "123-Maple-St_001.jpg", "123-Maple-St_002.jpg", etc. If you just use "1" and "2", the client's computer will incorrectly sort file "10" right after file "1".
Upload your photos: Once your files are properly batch-renamed, upload them to your Show&Tour Delivery Pages or Property Websites.
Seamless delivery: When your client downloads the media package, their computer will read the numbering system and sort the files perfectly from start to finish.
💡 Pro tip: If you use editing software like Adobe Lightroom, you can create a custom Export Preset that automatically renames your files with a custom text field (like the property address) followed by a 3-digit sequence. Setting this up once will save you hours of admin time and ensure you always look like a premium professional!
